Knock

Support

Knock is a small app, so this is a short page. If your question isn't here, write and you'll get a real reply.

My person's widget didn't light up.

Knocks arrive as a notification, so notifications must be allowed on their phone (Settings ▸ Knock ▸ Notifications). If they are inside their quiet hours, the knock arrives silently on purpose: their widget still updates, it just doesn't make a sound.

The code they gave me doesn't work.

Codes last a day and work once. If it has expired or already been used, ask them for a new one. Or scan their QR code instead: it's quicker, and it doesn't expire while you're looking at it.

Can I use Knock with more than one person?

One person is free, with everything that matters. The one-time unlock raises it to eight people and opens every emoji. There is no subscription and there never will be.

What happens if I unpair?

The connection is deleted for both of you, along with the streak and the encryption key. It cannot be undone, and you would have to pair again from scratch.

How do I block someone?

Settings ▸ their name ▸ Block. It unpairs you and stops them pairing with you again. They are not told, and it behaves for them exactly like an invitation that was quietly declined.

Knock didn't open FaceTime.

Both people need to have added the email or number their FaceTime uses. Knock asks the first time you knock, and skipping is fine. Without it, a knock still works perfectly well as a signal; it just won't place a call.

Will my streak survive a missed day?

Once a month, yes. Each calendar month gives you one grace day, so a single missed day won't undo a long streak. Two in the same month will.

I got a new phone.

Sign in to the same iCloud account and your people come with you. The encryption keys travel through iCloud Keychain, which Apple encrypts end to end.
